15/11/09 - Well, blow me down! Yug-yug-yug! Is it true? Can it really be? Do my eyes deceive me?! NO!! It really IS an SPWF update!! I can't apologize enough for the delay, folks! What with one thing or another, the latter half of 2009 has proven to be pretty busy for me, meaning I've not had a lot of time to spare to work on updates. However, as the year wore on and we edge closer and closer to 2010, I really wanted to make sure I was able to get out at least one more update before we enter the next decade...and seeing as last time out, I went with the whole tag team theme, I figured this time, I'd go for more of a diva/knockout/women of wrestling theme instead! Which, whilst I kinda have done, I'll admit...as I drew more pics, this one ended up becoming more of a TNA-centric update rather than anything else. However, there are plenty of updated ladies of pro wrestling and some first-time pictures around, totalling 40 new pics in all, and I plan to whip up a few more before the new year as well, who I didn't manage to get done before today's self-imposed deadline! Also, in other news, I've scoured the web and done my best to collect all of my previous Champions pictures! Whilst I can't really be bothered to go through the whole thumbnail process, as I do with all my other pictures, you can just as easily check them out by clicking HERE. If anyone's got any other Champs pics I've drawn over the years saved that aren't featured, please send them to me so I can add them to the bunch! It'll be hugely appreciated in helping stop the hundreds of e-mails begging me for previous Champs pics! =p I haven't had a chance to whip up proper TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles yet...so I've kinda just used the regular Knockouts Title, added "Tag Team" to the belt and changed the strap color to red. Sue me! Still, like I say, I'll try and find some free time to draw some more pics before the new year, but in the meanwhile, make sure you check out the EWA as always for your e-fed goodness, whilst checking back here to figure out when the next update might be! I'll do my best to make it soon! Peace!
4/10/09 - Still alive! Apologies folks...I HAD been planning on putting together another update for last month, but with one thing leading to another, I've barely had the time to put together even a handful of pictures! I can't really say when the next update will be for sure, as things look like they're still going to be busy in the coming weeks, but I'm aiming to get something up before Christmas at the very latest! Apologies dudes!! Also, don't forget to check out the EWA, a top notch e-fed, if you're into that kind of thing! Adios!
14/6/09 - Tag Team Special!! Greetings and salutations my friends! I figured it's about time I got off my backside and posted what I've been working on recently, so here it is! For some reason, I've been inspiried to draw some brand spanking new pics of various tag teams, ranging from the current (No Limit, Heartbreak Express, 2.0) to the recently broken up (Miz & Morrison) to the really old school (Orient Express, Rougeau Brothers, Killer Bees)...and that's not to mention the regular assortment of updated attires and new debutees! All in all, that means there's some 50 new pics for you to check (including new Champ pictures) out so I hope you enjoy them! Also, as well as shilling the EWA once again (a kick ass e-fed that you should definitely check out if you're into that kind of thing), I'd also like to shill the SP Arena, a new South Park wrestling site started up by an extremely talented fella called JWind. It's only just being developed at the moment, but as you can see for yourselves, there's already some great art on there and I look forward to seeing what else he comes up with! As per usual, it's that time of the year where music festival season is kicking in thick and fast (not to mention a few birthdays that need celebrating), so I'm not really sure when to expect a next update! I'll aim to get one out in mid-August, but it might not be an especially big one. If not, expect one up in September sometime at the absolute latest! Peace out!
3/4/09 - Pictures galore!! It's taken a bit longer than I'd have hoped, but finally, here's another relatively small update, but a pretty damn good one, if I do say so myself! There's plenty of updated attires and rosters in the Raw, Smackdown, ECW, TNA and RoH sections, and with the new Champions pics as well, that gives us some 40 brand new pictures in all (and some of which that have been long overdue too!) Also, you'll be glad to hear that I've still got the drawing bug in me right now, so I'm going to get right back to work tomorrow and try and whip up some more new pics for me to post sometime within the next month or so, if all goes to plan! Keep your eyes peeled for that one! In the meanwhile though, I've recently taken over a cool e-fed that has plenty of awesome history and could do with a few kick ass roleplayers to come in and help pick things up with this change-over in power, so please check out the EWA and sign up if you want to be a part of something pretty special! The best way to describe the fed right now is that it's a totally even playing field where anyone who has the talent and is willing to put in the effort can come in and make an immediate impact, and hopefully, I'll see a few of you there! Until next time though...adios!
22/3/09 - UPDATE! Greetings folks! I know it's been a while since I've last produced anything, so I figured rather than save the pics I've been working on for a bigger update, I'd just throw up everything I've been working on the past couple of weeks! There's 27 new pics, including new Champions pictures, so check them out! I'll try and bust out another update fairly soon!
22/2/09 - Word up Sorry about the lack of anything recently...haven't had much time for drawing pics so unfortunately, I've got no real news as to when the next update will be just yet! In the meanwhile though, I've finally updated the champions section and moved about some pics to reflect recent firings and hirings!
14/12/08 - Big end of year update!! Man, how quick did 2008 pass us by? It's been a crazy year of dying laptops, burst appendixes and general awesomeness, but 2008 is finally on the verge of disappearing into the annals of time, so to celebrate, here's a pretty kick ass update, if I do say so myself! As you'll no doubt notice, there's THREE new sections to the site, though don't get too excited...it's mostly just a move by me to make the Indy page a little less intimidating, so I've grouped all of the guys currently working in Japan in one section, all of the guys currently working in Mexico in another, and then, to top it all of, I've put together an entire section for Chikara in the US. Why create a specific section for an Indy promotion after years of saying I wouldn't, you might ask? Pretty much because Chikara is such an original company with a pretty exclusive roster of talent who've come from their wrestling school, it just made sense! On top of that, there are 60 new pictures (including updated Champs) scattered around the site for you to enjoy, so what are you doing still reading this crap? Go on...look at the pics!! Next update should be sometime in February, when the SPWF celebrates it's 10th...yes, TENTH birthday! Holy moly!!
5/10/08 - Update-a-rooni! As promised, six to eight weeks after our last update, here is the next installment of SPWF goodness! We've got 40 pictures here, including new champions pictures, but the vast majority of today's update is made up of brand spanking new pictures rather than the usual updates of existing ones! I've tried pretty hard to concentrate on doing some original pics of guys I've never drawn before and hopefully it's come off pretty well! Of course, that's meant I still haven't done a lot of the updated pics I'd have liked to do (and I'm going to go out on a limb and promise right here and now, a new version of the Rock N' Rave Infection WILL be featured in the next update amongst others...as long as they don't have a Russo-riffic split before then), but I'll get to all them for the next update! And just when might that update be? Well, considering the whole six to eight weeks thing served me so well this time, I'm going to say it again, which'll most likely be the final proper update before Christmas/New Year! Until then, take it easy folks!!
10/8/08 - As seen in SoloWrestling Magazine! Yes, it's true! As promised, here is a brand spanking new update that is LONG overdue, with 50 new pictures (including various new champions pictures) scattered all throughout the site! And the best thing of all? I'm not even finished! Yes, that's right! I've got a helluva lot of ideas for new pictures so I'm going to go out on a limb and announce that we'll see the next update in either six or eight weeks from today, depending on how much I can get done in that time...but rest assured, I'm determined to make up for lost time! Enjoy! And for those wondering about the title up there, it refers to this month's edition of Spanish wrestling magazine, Solo Wrestling, where they were kind enough to interview me about the site and wrestling in general! Check them out here!
20/7/08 - Rosters/Champions updated Apologies for the delay folks...I've been pretty busy over the past couple of months due to having to work more hours as well as squeezing in a music festival and a couple of gigs and stuff of that nature too! Anywho, I've updated the rosters post-draft and done a minor update to the Champions section (though I didn't have enough time to attempt drawing Taylor Wild, so expect that picture soon), even though no doubt we'll see some title changes at the Great American Bash tonight! Also, please bear in mind that the Kofi Kingston IC Champ pic isn't my finished Kofi...just what I could rustle up in the time I had spare today, but the finished one will hopefully get put up either next weekend or when the next update rolls around. And speaking of which, I'm aiming for it to take place on Sunday 10th August, so keep an eye out folks!
18/5/08 - NEWS!! So, for those who didn't hear, my old laptop died on the week I was supposed to be updating the website, thus throwing everything into major league confusion. It's taken a while, but I've finally got myself a new laptop, began installing the right programs and what not to keep the site alive, and now just need a bit of time to begin drawing pictures again, but all in all, fear not...the SPWF is NOT dead and buried yet! I don't know when the next update will be, but at least now I can get to work on it and however make up for all those pictures I lost from what would have been the latest update had my laptop not kicked the bucket. Stay tuned folks!
9/3/08 - Crap on a crutch So I've just discovered that with folks taking days off work over the next couple of weeks, I'm required to cover some shifts and therefore am not going to be able to come round my Dad's house on March 23rd and update the site as originally planned. Instead, it looks like the next possible date will have to be April 6th, so muchas apologies folks but that's when you'll have to wait for the next update. And that's a guarantee this time, too!
2/3/08 - D'OH!! Just to warn you folks, I haven't been able to do as much as I'd like for an update next weekend as I had previously planned. To cut a long story short, I was hospitalised with a pretty bad case of appendicitis, and since coming out, I've not really been in the SPW drawing mood. However, I'll have something thrown together for just two weeks later than the original update date, so expect to see something new on Sunday March 23rd! Until then, peace out!!
27/1/08 - Good golly Miss Molly! Is that an update I spy?! Yes it is! After almost five months of inactivity, I've finally decided to get off my backside and give you fine folks some new pictures to check out and what better way to celebrate the SPWF's NINTH birthday than by putting together an update of some 80 new pictures, and that's including brand spanking new Champion pictures, and get this...my 1,000th ever picture in this style (it's Alex Shelley, for all you trivia buffs out there)! This one is mostly made up of all the new dudes and dudettes who've debuted in the big three since last September, as well as updated attires for all kinds of different characters in the E, TNA and RoH as well, and as always, the new pics are marked with a *star* by their name to make it oh so easier to find them! And as if this wasn't kick ass enough, I've even put together a small new section that covers the WWE's development territories as well, though that bad boy is definitely a work in progress! That's right, my friends...I've been a busy beaver over the course of late 07 and early 08, and I'm not finished either, as I reckon I've got enough motivation left in me to squeeze out another update (albeit this time much smaller) in about six weeks time! If I've got my dates all correct, I'm looking at it to be on Sunday March 9th, so stay tuned for some more new pictures in the near future! Enjoy!
13/1/08 - I'm still here! Well, as you can tell by the lack of updates over recent months, I haven't really been drawing too much pretty much thanks to my need for a break mixed with plenty of other things to occupy my time! However, it's a new year and that old itch has returned once again, which is why in two weeks time on January 27th, there WILL be a new update and it will hopefully feature some damn good new and improved pictures that will be to your liking! Mark it in your diary, folks...the SPWF is BACK!
23/9/07 - Apologies all round Well, due to outside influences, I didn't get anywhere near as much time to work on this latest update as I'd hoped, meaning it's pretty pathetic compared to a lot of my previous ones. There's only 13 new pics (18 including new Champs pics!), and frankly, it's not good enough for an SPWF update. In fact, it's so poor that I'm gonna start work this week on the next update which will include new pictures of many of the women in wrestling as well as some more Indy talent and just general updates on previous pictures. Please accept my apologies this time around, but next time I promise I'll do my best to give you guys something a lot more substantial!
9/9/07 - Just a quickie It's been a while, but this is just to announce that there will be an update two weeks from today on the 23rd September. It probably won't be too big as laziness and procrastination has really kicked in over the summer, meaning I've hardly drawn any new pics, but it'll be something at long last anyway! In the meanwhile, here's a brief Champions update (that'll no date be out of date already after TNA's No Surrender PPV tonight!) Catch y'all in a couple of weeks!
1/7/07 - R.I.P Nancy and Daniel Benoit I've just done a quick Champions update, and I'd just like to remind all of the people out there who keep telling me there are new champions that need updating not to bother since I'm only going to continue ignoring you. The fact is, as it always has been, I don't go to my Dad's house often enough to keep the Champions section completely up-to-date, and since that's the only place where I have access to uploading the site, no amount of whining will make it happen any sooner. It gets updated whenever I can but continually pestering me only makes me all the more inclined to NOT do it. Get it? Got it? Good. Now for the major news of the past week, the Benoit family tragedy. I don't know if I can possibly say anything that hasn't already been said, but I do know that after finding out about the shocking events of last weekend, I simply cannot look at a Chris Benoit match or any part of his wrestling legacy in the same way. He used to be one of my favourite wrestlers, with his WMXX title win and post-match celebrations alongside Eddie Guerrero ranking up there as probably my all-time favorite wrestling moment...but now, after all that's happened, I simply cannot shake off the thought that that same man, someone who I guess I might have called a hero of mine, ended up killing his wife and their seven year old son before cowardly taking his own life as well. Words cannot describe how saddened I am by these horrific events and I can only imagine how distraught his remaining family and friends must be. Rest assured, my thoughts and prayers go out to them all. But as much as this tragedy has saddened me, the thing that is really infuriating me over the course of the past week is the media's reaction, immediately placing all focus of this case on steroids and so-called "Roid Rage". Despite there not being any solid evidence of this until the toxicology reports come back, the press are constantly hammering home that wrestling, and in particular the WWE, encourage steroid use and that is therefore where all the blame lies. The truth of the matter though is that a) the E have their own Wellness Policy designed to route out possible steroid abusers, which Benoit doesn't seem to have been and b) we don't even know the full facts as to what caused Benoit to snap and we never will, so all this speculation only seems to serve one purpose, and that is to undermine professional wrestling. Whilst I certainly don't rule out that steroids could possibly have contributed to Benoit's seemingly already fragile mental condition, to out-right lay all the blame on them seems to me to be the media's way of finding a scapegoat that still doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone who thinks about it for more than a few seconds. I mean, many wrestlers have gone on record since this unfortunate incident to state that yes, they have used steroids in the past and yes, they have experienced "Roid Rage"...but it's an experience which lasts upwards of 5-10 minutes, not something that goes on for over 2 days. Nevermind the fact that Nancy's hands and feet were bound, clearly implying some kind of pre-meditation on Benoit's part, and that would certainly suggest to me that the role steroid's may or may not have played is being blown WAY out of proportion, just for the sake of sensationalist journalism to garner bigger ratings. And in all honesty, it's disgusting to see such a tragic situation exploited this way. Like I say though, we can only speculate what caused Benoit to snap the way he did and feel it necessary to take the lives of his wife and son. From all accounts, Chris was a quiet man who commanded a lot of respect and admiration from his fellow workers, someone who no-one could possibly have foreseen doing anything like this. He loved his family, he loved wrestling, and there were no clear signs of any kind of depression leading up to these events either, not even anything that his closest friends in the business could pick up on. It's been revealed that his son Daniel had a disease known as Fragile X syndrome, something that must have certainly been taxing on the entire family, as well as Nancy wanting Chris to be at home more to spend time with the boy, and perhaps those pressures played their part in Benoit's actions. However, with Benoit gone, we'll never know for sure. One thing I would like to commend though is Vince McMahon and the WWE, and their handling of the aftermath. They had no idea what had happened when they aired the Benoit tribute show instead of Raw on Monday night, as the police hadn't divulged all of the information regarding the case by that point. They were most definitely in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" situation as far as airing that show went and I think criticism for their decision is just totally unjustified given how little they'd been told by that point. I'd also like to commend Vince's solid defence of his company as well, and for standing up against the media's hideous barrage of cheap shots and low blows, not to mention their getting on with business as usual as far as ECW and Smackdown goes. Whilst the press will do their damnedest to make sure the E doesn't come out of this unscathed, I'm sure that Vince will continue to protect the wrestling business' reputation as much as he possibly can and I only hope that it doesn't take too much of a toll. Anyway, you're no doubt sick of my rambling by this point so I'm going to quit whilst I'm ahead. I still don't have a clue when the next update will be but I'll stick with the estimates in the previous post below this one. We'll see how it goes.
